PT HM Sampoerna or Sampoerna, one of the largest tobacco companies in Indonesia today, was founded by Liem Seeng Tee (1893-1956). Liem Seeng Tee is an immigrant from a poor family in Fujian province in China. In 1898, shortly after his mother died, he was with his father and older sister came to Indonesia to seek a more friendly climate.
But he must be separated from her sister, because it is very poor, so that his father had willingly adopted daughter of a family in Singapore. Shortly after arriving in Indonesia, his father died. That's what makes it should be independent since the age of 5 years in a foreign country.
Then Liem was appointed as a child by a family in Bojonegoro, a small town near Surabaya, and began studying tobacco blend which is then sold at the train station. At the age of 17, he began to work independently by selling cigarettes on the train cars.

An area of 1.5 hectares and consists of several buildings. Large buildings in the center and flanked by two smaller buildings on the left and right. The building was dididirkan in 1864 and originally used as an orphanage for orphan boys.
In 1912, the orphanage moved to Jalan Embong Malang. Then in 1932 after a successful, Liem Seeng Tee bought this building as the Sampoerna cigarette factory. Since then, this place is known as the Mill Park Sampoerna.Building the Great House of Sampoerna
In the large main building, initially there is a wide hall. Therefore, the idea of Liem's wife, the hall was made into a movie theater by the name of Sampoerna Theater. The theater is equipped with a rotating stage and an artificial floor for special effects, thus making it one of theater's greatest buildings of its time. Ir Soekarno often uses this hall to rekindle the spirit of struggle in colonial times. Even Charlie Chaplin had visited the theater.
Currently, the main building into a museum cigarette House of Sampoerna. Upon entering this building, the smell of cloves can be smelled. In the first room in this big building, you can see a replica of a cigarette shop that was first used by Liem Seeng Tee to sell basic food items and tobacco. You can also see old bikes have the founder of Sampoerna who used to sell cigarettes. In the middle of the main building, there are various photos of the director and commissioner of Sampoerna. In addition there are various collections of cigarettes and lighters on display here. Then in the very back room is still in the main building, there are various tools from the Sampoerna cigarette production in the early days. For example, the means of production of cigarettes and an old printing press. You can also see a variety of research equipment for the manufacture of cigarettes from R & D department at the time.
In the back of the main building, there is a factory large enough to produce cigarettes. Until now, this building is still used to produce cigarettes that is populist enough Sampoerna Dji Sam Soe and processed traditionally. You can watch the process of making cigarettes in one room of this mill from the stage on the 2nd floor main building. The factory was opened on Monday through Saturday from 6 am to 3 pm. Then on the right and left of the main building, there are smaller buildings. Both this building called West House and East House. Both this house has a floor plan upside down (like a mirror). Formerly, this building was used as Sampoerna family residence. The founder of Sampoerna family has the principle that they must stay in the location of the factory to control the business with more efficient and effective. In the West House also has a Rolls Royce made in 1972 which produced limited. East home or on the right side of the main building, originally occupied by Adi Sampoerna, the founder of Sampoerna's first child.
